ANIMAL HUSBANDRY

The West Godavari District is having three Revenue Divisions Bhimavaram, Narasapuram and Tadepalligudem.

The Animal Husbandry Department is divided into two administrative Divisions BhimavaramTadepalli Gudem headed by Deputy Directors (A.H).  The office of the District Animal Husbandry Officer, West Godavari District is located in the premises of the Veterinary Hospital Campus ,Gunupudi,Bhimavaram,pin:504201.

Bhimavaram Division is having 10 Mandals(Mogalturu, Narasapuram, Elamanchili, , Palacole, Veeravasaram, Plakoderu, Undi, Kalla, Akiveedu, Bhimavaram)

Pentapadu Division is having 10 Mandals,(Tanuku, Iragavaram, Attili, Penumantra, Penugonda, T.P.Gudem, Ganapavaram,Poduru, Achanta, Pentapadu)

State Institute of Animal Health (SIAH) is located at Tanuku. This is a referral hospital for the District having X Ray facility and other latest diagnostic techniques. Apart from this, this institute will act as training centre for conducting trainings on skill updating and refresher training to the field staff of the District and state for effective service delivery in the field.

District Livestock Development Agency[DLDA]  is functioning at Tadepalligudem to supply the Frozen Semen for Artificial Insemination to the  field  institutions for up grading breed quality of our local tract.

Constituency Level Disease Diagnostic Laboratory[CADDLs], are located in the premises 0f Area Veterinary hospitals of concerned constituency headquarters, except Achanta constituency ,which is Located at Area veterinary hospital Maruteru, to evolve Disease Diagnosis of Animals , prevention  and prophylaxis of Diseases by protective vaccination.

 The District Livestock Census( as per 20th Quinquennial ( Census-2019 ) is as follows in this District.

1).Viksit Andhra(Swarnadhra)-West Godavari:

West Godavari has high Pedigree Bovine population. Apart from the good animal management practices, the district role of various innovative activities implemented in the District in the able guidance of District Collector . 4) Preparation of Disease calendar for the year 2024-2025:

A disease calendar is prepared with common & communicable diseases and by fore casting the onset of the diseases. So that the animals will be protected in advance with suitable vaccinations and timely deworming as per the schedule prepared in advance.

5) Animal Husbandry Assistants:

Animal Husbandry Assistants working in RSK clusters  to provide First Aid, Breeding, Inputs and extension services. . A total of 182 AHAs are working in the district to serve farmers.

6) Ongoing schemes:

  1. i) 21thQuinquinnial Livestock Census: The Enumeration  started from 25-10-2024 to 28-02-2025 in West

Godavari District.

  1. ii):Prabuthva Pasu Bhima Padakam;

To support Livestock farmers implemented YSR PasuBhimaPadakam in which  Rs.30,000/- will be paid in case of cross bred/indigenous Cows/ Indigenous She Buffaloes and Male animals.Rs.15,000/- will be paid for Non Descriptive Cows/ Non Descriptive She Buffaloes and 6,000/- rupees for sheep/goat. During the year 2897 animals were insured.
