DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH SERVICES(SETWEL)

It is submitted that the Department of Youth Services / APSTEP (Andhra Pradesh Society for Training & Employement Promotion) in West Godavari District is called as SETWEL, which means Society for Employment & Training West Godavari Eluru and the District Collector, W.G.Dist., shall act as Chairman of SETWEL and the Chief Executive Officer is the controlling Officer.  The Department is under control of the Commissioner of Youth Services & Managing Director, APSTEP, Vijayawada and deliver its activities as per directions of the Commissioner.

 Activities of Youth Services/STEP (SETWEL) Department

The following Programmes and functions shall deliver by the SETWEL as submitted below:

1.Conducting of  District Level Youth Festival:

The District Level Youth Festivals has to be conducted in between August to November every year in 9 events i.e. Innovations in Science and Technology,  Cultural Category,   Life skill Category  and Yuva kriti. After completion of District Level Youth Festival  the Prize winners will be send  to State Level Youth Festival  competitions  which conducted during the month of December State Youth Services Department

3. 3. Observance of National /International important Days:

As per instructions of the Commissioner of Youth Services, Vijayawada National & International Important Days shall be observed on yearly basis in coordination with all other line department duly involving the members of Youth Clubs/Associations, Non-Governmental Organizations, Nehru Yuva Kendra, NCC, NSS, etc.

 4.Personality Development & Career Counselling  Programmes:

As per the Instructions of the Commissioner Youth Services Department, 4 Personality Development & Career Counselling  Programmes  per month has to be organized  in erstwhile West Godavari District  by  SETWEL  in Degree Colleges, Junior Colleges and  9^th & 10^th Class students in High Schools through motivational speakers.

5. 5. Formation / Rejuvenation of Youth Clubs.

As per the Instructions of the Commissioner Youth Services Department,  it is proposed to form new Youth Clubs by youth between the age group 18 to 35  to wean away the youth from unsocial activities and channelize their energies towards constructive activities and encourage them to come forward to participate community welfare activities and thus inculcate a sense of volunteerism among them in every Grama/ ward Secretariat level.  125 Youth clubs were formed during the year 2023-24 in erstwhile West Godavari District.

6. Awareness Programmes on Cyber Crime,Drug Abuse,Eve teasing etc.:

            As per the Instructions of the Commissioner Youth Services Department, Awareness Programmes on Cyber Crime,Drug Abuse,Eve teasing  has been organized in Degree Colleges, Junior Colleges and  9^th & 10^th Class students in High Schools. 18 Programmes were conducted During the year 2023-24 in erstwhile West Godavari District.
