a) PROFILE
Role and Functionality of Department
The Civil Supplies Department was originally only a regulatory Department Subsequently, its activities have been diversified to include purchase of paddy through PPCs for Custom Milling Rice, distribution of essential commodities viz., Rice, Wheat, Sugar, P’Oil and Redgram Dal through Mobile Dispensing Units at the door step of the cardholders every month under Public Distribution System at subsidized rates through ePoS cum eWeighing scales who are having computerized BPL Rice cards (i.e White and AAY) consumer affairs, monitoring of prices of essential commodities.

c)SCHEMES/ACTIVITIES/ACTION PLAN
1.Public Distribution System:
Essential Commodities are being distributed to the cardholders in the district through Mobile Dispensing Units (MDUs) every month at their door step. The following are the details of ECs being distributed every month to the cardholders.
- Fortified Rice – 5 Kgs per each member to all Rice Rice cards 35 Kgs per each AAY Card
- Redgram Dal – 1 Kg per each Rice card @ Rs.67/- per kg
- Sugar – ½ Kg each Rice card @ Rs.17/- per ½ kg 1 Kg to all AAY cards @ Rs.13.50 Ps
2.Allotment of ECs to Schools under DSMDM, ICDS, Welfare Hostels etc.:
Schools:
- Rice is being allotted every month to all the schools covered under Dokka Seethamma MDM Scheme and the same is being distributed at the door step of those schools through MDUs to provide cooked meal to the students.
ICDS:
- ECs viz., 3 Kgs of Rice, 1 Kg RG Dal and 1 Liter P’Oil are being distributed to all the Pregnant women and Lactating mothers at the door step of those schools through MDUs every month.
- ECs viz., Rice, RG Dal and P’Oil are being distributed to all the children accomodated in Anganwadi centers to provide cooked meal.
ICDS:
- Rice is being allotted every month to all the Welfare Hostels to provide cooked meal to the students of SC, ST and BC categories.
3.Implementation of Deepam-2 Scheme:
- In order to implement the Super 6 Guarantees annuonced by the State Government, the Civil Supplies Department is distributing 3 LPG refills at free of cost under Deepam-2 Scheme to all the LPG consumers who are having Rice cards.
- The Deepam-2 Scheme is inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 01.11.2024.
- Accordingly, out of 5,67,651 Rice cardholders existing in West Godavari District, a number of 4,52,394 beneficiaries are identified for Deepam-2 scheme till date and the process of identification of remaining 1,15,257 beneficiaries under progress.
